bud vase 8
This bud vase may be small but it brings the drama. It was fired in a wood-soda kiln in a firing with overall results leaning heavily toward a reduction aesthetic - lots of dark reds and browns and dramatic flashing. This piece may be a quiet example of these general results, but it is no less captivating. The focal point is a fine network of black and white crystals breaking over the throwing rings left by the hands of the maker. The same effect is echoed on the base and rim of the piece, with dark red flashing bringing interest to the other parts of the vessel.
