bud vase 9
Wood-soda fired, this bud vase has a dramatic flashing focal point due to how another pot was placed next to it in the kiln. As the flame path moved through the kiln and around the pieces, it left a permanent record on their surfaces. The angular shoulder on this piece creates a distinct line broken only by the soda deposit that creates cohesion between the top and bottom sections. The rim exhibits nice carbon trapping and subtle lines in the grey glass capturing the movement of downward flow during the firing. Subtle throwing rings add an element of textural interest.
