100+ hours of firing in a wood-fueled anagama kiln created the conditions for the crystal growth visible on the surface of this bud vase where it was hit with wood ash. It was in a spot in the kiln that was more oxidized, leading to an overall lighter color palette on the surface as well as the shino liner glaze. Surface texture from the throwing process adds more dimension to the subtle flashing pattern as well as visual and tactile texture.
